Why, Hollywood? ...Why?

Hey all, Fury here.

I was browsing Kotaku when I noticed this:

Darkest of Days to Become Darkest of Movies

"Proving once again that game review scores don't matter to movie producers, a movie version of 8monkey Labs' time travel shooter Darkest of Days is being shopped around, with the writers of The Rock attached to craft the screenplay."

Why does Hollywood feel that its within their right to destroy games with HORRIBLE movies? Don't get me wrong, I know there's always exceptions to the rule... But this shouldn't be one of them. IMO, Hollywood needs to keep their greedy little fingers away from video games. Keep it separate. Create original movies. Don't try to "adapt" games in order to score a few bucks from gamers. You guys already destroyed Street Fighter as a movie, Mortal Kombat, Super Mario Bros., Bloodrayne, House of the Dead, Dead or Alive, and Resident Evil (THE WHOLE DAMN SERIES).

Sorry folks.

For all those tuning to see the live taping of the podcast last night I apologize. I had a midterm yesterday and was studying all day for it, took the test. I came home afterward and was a bit sleepy and decided to take a nap before the podcast.

Apparently though, my body decided it was just time to sleep and slept thru my alarm I had set.
So, again, I apologize for the delay, I do believe that we will tape tonight.

Gamestop Among Retailers Subpoenaed Over Deceptive Ads [Update]

Ever worried about ordering online? Well it seems so is the New York State Attorney General's office is too.
Seems GameStop is one of 22 online retailers that offers online discounts in disguise as a way to share YOUR credit card information thru membership programs that YOU agree to without realizing it.

Read the entire ad for more details. Thankfully I NEVER order online at GameStop.

Game Crazy Woes Again

Game Crazy can't catch a break as parent-company Movie Gallery has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy. When the dust settles, only 250 Game Crazy locations will remain. The company already closed over 200 locations late last year. In total, Movie Gallery plans to immediately liquidate and close 760 stores in its financially fallible trinity of brands: Movie Gallery, Hollywood Video and Game Crazy.

The company hopes to emerge from the "restructuring" with a "new and sustainable business model centered on a smaller base of profitable stores." The only division of the business unaffected by the bankruptcy is the company's Canadian operations. At least that's one good thing, eh?

Source: Joystiq.com

Man...Game Crazy just needs to be laid to rest. First just about every location near me here in MN closes down, along with TONs of Hollywood videos and now this? Looks like GameStop and companies like Blockbuster and Netflix are just ruining those small time movie and video game places. It's a wonder places like GamesNGo here in Brooklyn Park are still able to keep afloat, even with a GameStop less than a quatar mile away.

Games I've Beaten!!

By The Fury X on 1/19/2010 02:39:00 PM

Hey all, Fury here.

After thinking about the games I've played and completed, I decided to come up with a list of games I've beaten!

Shenmue
Jet Grind Radio
the Resident Evil series (Except for the rail shooters and RE: Online)
Megaman
Megaman 8
Megaman X4
Final Fantasy VIII
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
GTA III
GTA VC
GTA IV
Metal Gear Solid (All of them except for VR Missions, Subsitance, and the ones on PSP... I don't have one)
Call of Duty 3
Call of Duty 4
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Ninja Gaiden
Fable
the Halo series (Sans ODST)
Dead Rising
Assassin's Creed
Assassin's Creed II
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Streets of Rage 2
Sonic 3
Star Fox 64
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Super Mario 64

And just to list them, here are the games I'm on the verge of beating and why I haven't done so:

UFC 2009: Undisputed - I've beaten all the other weight classes and I'm working on the Light Heavyweight Class

Castle Crashers - I've beaten it, but using someone else's data. I haven't truly beaten the game.

All other Super Marios - I get frustrated with the games and yell, "Screw it! I'm done!"

Final Fantasy VII and X - I know, I know... I need to beat them. I had to restart on X because Anthony "accidentally" saved over my file where I was in Sin, was on the way to beat him, and got sidetracked by trying to get all the legendary weapons. VII: I was headed down the crater to meet Mr. Sephiroth, but I used the save point you get near the end almost at the end, instead at the top of the crater in case you want to go back up and grab something else

Ninja Gaiden II - I was playing this on the 24 hour cast, but stopped after I found out I was half way done with the game, but I was only on Chapter 14

If you want to see me beat these games, send an email to rebelrousernetwork@gmail.com, title it RANDY! BEAT THIS GAME, which game it is, and I'll try to get it done.

Hey all, Randy here.

Sorry for the delay in the podcast. Maji's been out of commission due to a food illness. Hopefully we'll record, just let Maji get the bad stuff out of his system first. We're only human... except for Anthony, he's inhuman. Haha. But yeah, again, we apologize for the delay. Just bare with us and enjoy the OLDER podcasts in the mean time. I know I have.

Thanks!

Just a note, yes...we know that somehow the intro music did not get added to the file. Maji thinks in editting he used the "Undo" tool once too many and it unpasted the intro music.

Total Runtime of the podcast is 94min.
